Stealth and Calm faces of Wolverine. Two talents two new playstyles.

$

0

Stealth Option
Because of his espionage background: Spec Ops, X-Force, Expert Tracker and Hunter.

  • Dash deals less/0 dmg but make Wolverine go stealth.
  • Impale and Eviscerate deal additional dmg from stealth or have +critical rating from stealth.
  • Crimson Leap have it's direct dmg buffed but it's bleed lowered and if it defeats it's enemies it doesn't break stealth but instead refreshes stealth duration.

Calm Option
Because besides being a rage monster he was: Samurai, Teacher, Soldier, Undercover Agent and true profesional.

  • Wolverine doesn't generate or spend Fury.
  • Drawback of this is less brutal strike rating and dmg/brutaldmg and less hp regen.
  • Feral Roar becomes Brothers in Arms / Best Teammate - buff for him and allies which if taken [costing one power slot] outsets some of the drawback and help the team. Probably attack speed, defense and hp regen.
  • Maybe one or two powers could be changed if they are too rage'y.

Power Duration affects Unstoppable Beast ?

Deep Cuts talent annoyance

$

So I was toying with a bleed build. One thing that absolutely annoys me is how Deep Cut's buffed bleed damage is NOT applied if I keep hitting the same target.

For example, Blood Claw has bleed and you'll notice that the bleed damage is not refreshed to a higher value if you keep hitting the same target because the next hit only refresh the duration of the first bleed value. This is HIGHLY annoying. Not to mention Wolverine's bleed duration is rather long 6s or 12s. This also means if your Deep Cuts isn't at max and you start the fight with Crimson or Blood Sweep, the bleed value is not reset to a higher value on the same target. So annoying!!!

So in order to get the best out of Deep Cuts bleed gameplay, you always start with Bloody Claw - an inferior attack and the bleed from Bloody Claw isn't refreshed to higher value on the same target. It's only okay if you switch to a new target. Bad design IMO.

@TheDink could you pass this to the responsible? Thanks!

Also, this costume needs a VU as well :/

There's nothing in this thread.

Unstoppable Beast Buff

Unstoppable Beast buff is currently crap.

I can barley stay alive even with 20 seconds of healing for only 10% of maximum health.

Unstoppable Beast healing rate should scale with his fury count.

CMM, CICP and other cosmic things can literally 2 shot him. Please take this into consideration.

His stacking buff from Frenzy doesn't show in the buffs tab. Would be useful to know when it's maxed or running out.

Solo cosmic term clearing

I wanted to share these as I have posted them in the cosmic bounty clear comparison thread. However, I figure some people might find them interesting here as well.

I really wanted to get wolverine through the cosmic Kurse, Ultron, and Kl'rt terminals with decent times even with his limited aoe.

This is what I managed.

2:45 Cosmic Kl'rt

1:43 Cosmic Kurse

I used this build to clear them

Through these tests, I really do feel like he could use a little aoe help. Specifically, giving a greater radius and possibly a shorter cooldown to tornado claw. 4 seconds with the appropriate tuning. Also, Crimson Leaper needs either greater jump distance or a larger area cone.

Tornado Claw + Building Momentum + Sig -- not Working

So, if you select Building Momentum Talent (line 2 talent 2) the signature bonus does not apply to Tornado Claw.
If you stack Tornado Claw 2 times for buff, then hit 3 times sig for bonus, the next Tornado Claw(3rd hit within 5s) should hit for +100% dmg from Building Momentum + 105% dmg From signature and be a Brutal.

Was that intended so both do not apply at the same time or is this a bug?

Old Man Logan Costume Question

So I am very tempted to the get the OML costume. I haven't yet because with the OML team-up I notice when he is running to catch up to my hero there is a bit of separation of the coat from the arms, head, and legs. Does anyone notice that with the playable costume? or does anyone notice that with the team-up as well? I would appreciate some Wolverine feedback on this issue please and thank you in advance

Biggest Upset Ever!

And when I say upset, I mean surprise result from the BUE blender!

I played Wolvie once long ago and absolutely hated him, due to his Fury spend mechanic & basically starting every fight on empty just to get there. Now, post BUE, with 2-3 choice talents, he is an absolute joy to zip around with & is likely to end up in my top 3 melee heroes, which I generally don't like, go figure.

I also just discovered Inexorable Rampage, which turns the vanilla Rampage into a ridiculous killing spree, with invulnerability AND full Fury refill. Wow. I no longer really need a slot for Feral Roar & haven't really liked or needed Unstoppable Beast (as he has plenty other life regen options), so now he's basically slotted as a powerhouse Fury spender, which he actually can't spend quick enough with IR refilling it every 8 secs (all almost 1500 of it, which certainly helps a lot & I struggle to spend, so may reduce/exchange for other, better dps options).

Add to that Bloody Claws, Bloody Sweep, Savage Slash, Run Through, Crimson Leap (for mobility mostly) + Sig/Dash & he's an absolute hoot who cycles through mobs like an oxy-torch through butter!

[BUILD]Unstoppable Beast -100% Uptime on Unstoppable Beast buff and its hilarious effect on survival

$
0
0

This build focuses on having to keep the effect of Unstoppable Beast at 100% uptime. Of course, the gearing choices will be far from the best TTK choices and, consequently, TTK will suffer.

Basic information:

Unstoppable Beast gets a duration of 1s + 1s per max Fury spent. To hit 100% uptime, a minimum of 2900 Fury is required. However, Power Duration affects both Unstoppable Beast and Wetwork which means it would be a good idea to invest into it instead of stacking pure Fury. As a result, only a minimum of 1900 Fury is needed for a 100% uptime with at least 50% Power Duration.

Build link: marvelheroes.info/build/6525/

Gear choices are what would usually be on for Wolverine with the exception of slots 2 to 4 as they all require to have a Power Duration stat. Medallion is swapped to Doctor Doom for Power Duration as well.

Fury stacking is a must hence the choice of Gibborim and Mkraan. Consequently, this gives a better CHR value than when equipped with Axe for the legendary slot allowing for focused BHR gearing for artifacts. If the player has high IP values, it is highly suggested to invest into the Spirit/Fury node to change Gibborim to Atlantis for better TTK results.

Artifacts are highly variable except for Arc Reactor/Cybernetics Implant but it is highly suggested to keep at least Advanced Circlet of Cyttorak due to providing Brutal Strike Rating. Mane and SCS can be changed to more TTK-inclined artifacts if preferred.

Now it's time for me to stop talking in third person. I admit that I expected this build to have a sorely horrible TTK -- the kind only Cap, Task, and GG can provide -- but that doesn't seem to be the case. Even with the SCS and Mane equipped and missing 3 cosmic affixes(I currently only have the 10% signature reduction), and a bit of damage from my core, it resulted in a decently placed TTK. Of course, your mileage may vary when it comes to TTK values but given how high the survivability of this build is, it actually isn't bad at all.

TTK at 2:31. Starts from 0:09 and ends at 2:40 , just before 2:41 hits.

image

For the rotation:

Start with Crimson Leap -> Bloody Sweep for Vulnerability -> Wetwork then immediately proceed to using 3 charges of the signature - Furious Assault -> Tornado Claw -> Eviscerate. Use skills off cooldown but don't use Furious Assault until you have close to 3 charges again. The recharge should be 15s or less if you have the cosmic affix which would make most, if not all, of it fit into the last few seconds of Wetwork. Make sure to prioritize this as Wetwork helps Furious Assault deal consistent Brutal Hits resulting to very high decrease in TTK.

When Wetwork is in cooldown, use skills off-cooldown. However, if Wetwork is almost out of cooldown, wait for it to get out of cooldown before starting/using all 3 charges of Furious Assault to be able to fit 2 3-charges of Furious Assault into one Wetwork buff.

For advanced players, there is a small window(around 2.5s) in which your Furious Assault charges will be filled and Wetwork is still under cooldown. In this case, you can opt to use one charge of Furious Assault followed by a Tornado Claw(or none at all) to not waste the cooldown it has. This will still end up giving you around 2 3-charges of Furious Assault but the room for error is quite small.

Tornado Claw results into better DPS than Run Through but Run Through does not miss. This may be something to take into consideration when playing against mobile bosses such as Cable, Juggernaut, GG, etc.

So just how high is the survivability of this build? Regeneration is high enough to out-regenerate most spike damage given that the player doesn't die in a single(ie. Juggernaut's/Kingpin's/Rhino's charge) or quick stream of hits(ie. Hyper Viper Beam).

To showcase the regeneration of the build, here are two runs of Simulation #77. Try to lower your volumes a bit because I'm listening a track in the background and it may be pretty loud.

I should note that in the second video, Cable gets the "Amplifier Device" affix which resulted in me not tanking any Hyper Viper Beam blasts.

Finally, I want to say thanks to @BrockTheRock for providing me with his build with was the inspiration and the base template of this build and to @bobovindo for being a great friend all-around and moreso when it comes to Wolverine. No bo, I won't wear the Patch costume because I don't want to look like you.

Exploit Weakness talent? And other things...

$

Ok, first off... what is his Exploit Weakness talent and what does/should/will it do?

Secondly, can his Brutality trait give Eviscerate a tooltip showing the bonus against bleeding just so we know it's active?

Thirdly, even though mine is currently cosmicing I do like to plan ahead. With that being said I was curious if his Deep Cuts talent will work on Bloody Claws as well or only on Swift Claws? I would assume the two powers are interchangeable, but since it is not stated I cannot be certain.

Wolverine Signature Help (Furious Assault)

Every time I pop my signature it pushes the enemies clear across the screen. I don't have any gear with affixes that should be causing it and the DPS loss is killing me. It was a non-issue in the omega trial for the most part because it wasn't pushing the mechs back, but it is a strong enough push to move the ice giants on Asgard. Totally stuck/lost - any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Guide] I'm The best there is at what I do, and what I do is play Wolverine - 2 builds 1 Guide!!

I'm The Best There is at What I Do, and What I Do is Play Wolverine

This Guide is split into TWO PARTS, the first part is the more standard Bleed Build for Wolverine that I ran for a very long time and is an excellent spot for new Wolverine players to start while gearing and getting used to Wolverine. The second part is a bit more advanced build (code named The Best End Game Build There Is) that I am currently running that will require certain pieces of gear and involves a bit more complicated rotation. The Bleed Build will be discussed in the first two posts, while The Best End Game Build There Is will be discussed in the following two posts.

If you have a different opinion on how Wolverine should be played or feel like there are changes I could make to improve on this guide please feel free to share. I will not pretend to know everything there is to know about Wolverine and may have missed something, though please do be prepared to back your claims up preferably with either in-game proof or some sort of mathematical counter argument. :)

The Bleed Build

Max These-

  • Unstoppable Beast - Max HP, Life on Hit, HP Regen.
  • Bloody Sweep - Use this in AOE situations when the mobs have high HP and will not fall over from a cast or two of Crimson Leap.
  • Bloody Claws - Your basic attack.
  • Eviscerate - Big time single target damage.
  • Crimson Leap - Can be a bit wonky at first but once mastered is your best AOE option. The Bleed helps in single target fights and boosts eviscerate.
  • Furious Assault - So much burst damage!! Love his sig!
  • Adamantium Skeleton - Tenacity, Defense, Damage, Block Chance. This is a really good passive.
  • Chudan-No-Kamae- With the extra points and new scaling on passives I do like maxing this.

One Point Wonders-

  • Rending Sweep(optional)- This is to apply vulnerability, if you are in a party and others have a vulnerability don't cast this the fury and let heroes with spirit apply vuln.
  • Wetwork(optional) - The buff from this is decent but to invest more in this your build would need to involve power duration.
  • Can't Keep Me Down - Stun Break/Revive
  • Feral Roar - The CC, weaken, and giant Fury gain on this power make it very useful.
  • Furious Lunge - You standard movement power, also the knockdown on this can really help with mitigating damage from large groups in cosmic terminals.
  • Borrowed Ride(optional) - Fury free movement.

The Gear

  • Please read this before continuing The Gear is listed in the order I would recommend it. I have removed the "My Gear" section for a number of reason, one being I don't want people to follow this guide blindly. You need to figure out what works for you and your play style. The thing I like hearing the worst is "I followed your guide and I have "X" HP and I am struggling to survive." There are options listed for this reason. Select one that will give you more HP and help you survive. I spent a good deal of time when I was first gearing Wolverine with an Adv. Super Solider Serum and Viking Vitality on because I needed HP. I was able to remove those and replace them as time went on and I picked up HP else where. I personally do not recommend playing him below 20k and think ideal is somewhere in the ball park of 22k-26k. Different players play differently, when I play I have a tendency to dash out of anything that is extremely threatening, meaning I can play at lower HP ranges. However those who do not like to or have fast enough reflexes to, should no be playing in the lower HP ranges. Remember gearing is a fluid situation just because you have a piece on today doesn't mean it has to be on tomorrow.

Slot 1

  1. Bone Claws - Post Wolverine's unique rework these things are absolutely bonkers and take the top spot for dps in my testing/mathing. The damage stat loss from fragment seems to be easily made up for with the 10% attack speed and +ranks. Though they do not have HP so if you find yourself in need of more consider using a fragment of twilight.

  2. Fragment of Twilight - Massive damage stats (1400 DR, 2k brutal and crit damage, 450+ crit and brutal rating), Hp and loh, a revive. This this literally has everything except attack speed which is quite good on Wolverine. Its a slight DPS loss when compared to his Bone Claws but a bit more defensive I think the choice between these two items is really up to the player.

  3. Overseer Slag's Mace - Still a viable option though definitely a tier below your 1st two choices.

  4. An argument could be made for Death Seed if your goal is more survivability.

This will be addressed in my FAQ as well but to answer your question; No The Doomsaw even with the Ultimate Nullifier is not a good option, they are in fact a rather large DPS loss

Slot 2

  1. Pelt of the Sacred White Gorilla - It's a pretty tight race here between the Pelt and Wolverine's own slot 2 (Worn Leather Jacket) but once you get to end game gearing the ranks in CNK on the jacket become not overly helpful and the attack speed and higher damage rating numbers seem to be edging the Jacket out slightly.

  2. Worn Leather Jacket - Another item that benefited greatly from Wolverine's unique review. If you do not have full end game gear (ilvl 69 upgrades, stark tech cubes, ect, ect) the ranks in CNK and the other damage stats will make this item very very good for you.

  3. Lady Brimstone's Hide - The Hp regen and damage rating on this thing are huge! If you are feeling a bit squishy this will help you out and still keep your damage dealing very respectable.

  4. Nate Grey's Psionic Armor The most common of the any hero slot 2's and a very good option for Wolverine. Melee damage, attack speed, damage to bosses, -fury cost, and power duration are all very useful for Wolverine. Though its missing any form of defensive stats and only has +1 all powers leaving it a good deal behind the above options.

  5. This slot can also be used to add some survivability with a cosmic with 1800+hp, 5800+ hp regen, and grants a useful move not maxed at rank 20+(Wetwork, Rending Sweep, ect) or an any hero with regen and health like SHIELD Life Support, Eildolon Warwear, ect.

Slot 3

  1. Team X Utility Belt this item is not optional. Crit, crit damage, health, +to feral claws tree, + unstoppable beast. This item is a MUST HAVE. And now it even has ranks to our sig Furious assault, Hp and Hp regen. So much awesome!

Slot 4

  1. Batroc's Savate Boots -

  2. Nisanti Boots These will out right beat Footstigons in raids because you will be able to take advantage of the +damage to unaware targets. Though in solo situations Footstigons will win out.

  3. The Footstigons with 700+ crit to melee and 600+ melee damage these are a bit dated due to their lack of +2 all powers but may be a bit more common than several of the other any hero options.

  4. Old Man Logan's Work Boots with -fury, lots of damage, +3 strength, +health, +crimson leap, +adamantium will(Sig, and Chudan-no-kamea) these items will do quite well since unique rework in this build though I do believe some of the any hero options will pull slightly ahead.

Slot 5

  1. Mask of the Goat - With its aura that weakens and slows(meaning full benefit from Loki synergy except for vs raid bosses bc they are jerks and can't be slowed) everything near you plus its monsterous damage numbers this is the item you want in your slot 5 but seeing as its only currently available from Onslaught himself it isn't the most common item in the game that is for sure.

  2. Master Ogun's Sword Since the unique review Master Ogun's Sword has jumped up ahead of all any hero items not named Mask of the Goat in terms of damage and IMO makes Mask of Xorn an obsolete pick for Wolverine. The only other any hero I would consider using is Mask of Algrim if you feel like you need the additional HP regen.

  3. Mask of Algrim - This is my favorite choice for slot 5, very good dps and the hp regen on it is OUTSTANDING!!

  4. X-force Commander with its aura, crit, brutal, and invis proc(which is surprisingly useful). This item is quite good if you are looking for a bit more survivability but do not have access to a Mask of Algrim.

Artifacts I Use

  1. Sacred White Gorilla Necklace - With the recent changes to this thing its a very, very good artifact! I've seen as high as 425 crit and 620 damage rating! The damage rating has 100% uptime!

  2. Gem of the Kursed - The damage output on this thing is nuts. Especially considering Wolverine's extremely high crit and brutal rating.

  3. Lizard Forumula Higher damage then an Adv. Metasensory Array and additional loh and revive are nice. If you do not have full ilvl 69 gear consider using an Adv Meta here as the +1 all powers will likely be worth more to you.

  4. Taskmasker's Fighting for Losers Guide – Though only High rolls 200+ dmg, 6% boss dmg, 400+ melee crit.

Other Artifact Options

  1. Adv. Metasensory Array - great boost to damage.

  2. Hand of Doom - another great damage boost

  3. ARMOR issued Nano-poison - A new item from the updated ARMOR event can be obtained relatively cheaply adds Hp regen and good damage. Its a good item to use while you farm up the super rare boss artifacts and can be obtained SUPER easy! Use your rerolls on Jocasta to get a high roll though!

  4. Adv. Crimson Crystal of Cyttorak - High damage with health and invuln proc

  5. Ziggurat of Kargul - The crit and crit damage are nice and it can sub in for a HoD, also its teleport is useful when you are out of fury.

  6. Xerogen Crystal - Very good easy to come by DPS boosting artifact.

  7. Super Heroic Yukio's Charm this is a good substitute for ASSS if you have one with a good roll. (Do these still exist? I don't know what came of this since the story rework, I may have to remove it from the list)

  8. Adv. Kung fu and White Suit Jacket - good option for those who are having trouble staying alive.

  9. Adv. Star Stone Tooth is a great option for those looking for a bit more survivability. Though personal I prefer the ASSS to this item.

  10. Adv. Super Soldier Serum -A great option if you just flat need more HP.

Medallion

  1. Red Onslaught Medallion - For those of you lucky enough to have one of these congrats and I hate you! haha! No but seriously this is the top medallion for basically every hero in the game unless they need the power duration from a Doom medallion.

  2. Red Skull - Slightly edges out Grim Reaper and quite a bit easier to farm (seeing as he does have his own terminal). +2 Str, +2 Fighting, +1200 Brutal damage...sign me up!

  3. Grim Reaper Extremely close to Red Skull though harder to find and harder to get a good roll on (it has more variables). Though it has a bit of added utility with the added life on kill proc.

  4. Sabertooth I really like the HP and HP regen on this item. It also gives 500+ damage to bleeding targets which will be all of your targets all of the time.

  5. Tombstone HP, crit, and damage. This is a good medallion for all melee.

  6. Kurse Damage, crit, and brutal, probably the easiest to farm medallion of the bunch and a good place holder while you farm some of the more rare options.

  7. Jugg If you really want more survivabiltiy

This list could go on but I think these are the top 5.

Rings

  1. Industry City Signet - Both Melee and Physical work equally well for Wolverine and will be your best choice for a ring

  2. Cosmic ring with some combination of melee damage, crit, crit damage, brutal, or health.

Relics

  1. Atlantis grants 1107 crit damage at a stack of 1000.

  2. Asgard grants 411 melee damage at a stack of 1000.

  3. Lemuria there is no healing item in the game better then these. Period. They are a good option if you are having trouble surviving.

Insignias

  • Look for some combination Melee damage, crit, crit damage, brutal strike, or health as affixes on your insignia. Note your choice of Insig is very important with raids out now, your aura wisely. Consider its impact on the team and not just yourself if you plan to raid This list has expanded greatly since the insig rework but I will list some of my favorite auras for Wolverine.
  1. Iron Fist Crit rating and Attack Speed aura.

  2. Shang Chi +1 Fighting, Attack speed, and movement speed.

  3. She Hulk - Crit and Brutal Rating!

  4. Blade - Damage vs Bleeding Targets and LoH.

  5. Captain America - Damage, Crit, Brutal, Defense, and block chance.

  6. Crystal - Damage rating, move speed and defense. (Yes, I know it has energy damage as well. This does not make it bad for physical its just a design to make sure hybrid heroes aren't punished for being hybrid. This is a very good insignia for physical, energy, and hybrid heroes)

  7. Mockingbird - Attack speed.

This is by no means an entire list of good insigs for Wolverine just my top few, use your best judgement and remember good affix rolls are worth more than the aura.

Legendary Items

Level 80 Legendaries

  1. Savage Axe of Ares - Technically the 2nd best dps option (when in full end game gear, its the best while you are still gearing) but it will keep your damage a bit more normalized and not have you relying on brutal strikes so much.

  2. Ultimate Nullifier - Mathematically the top dps option once you are in full end game gear though only over prolonged fights due to how much missing a brutal on your sig/evis/ or impale can effect your damage while wearing this.

  3. Excalibur A good option if you would like to have a bit more durability while still maintaining good damage.

  4. Shield of Perseus for the tank in us all.

Level 70 Legendaries

  1. Gungnir - The undisputed champion of the world! Until all those flashy young guns came out with their higher ilvl nonsense and knocked him off his throne!

  2. Savage Axe of Ares The more defensively you gear the better this item is and may potentially beat Gungnir if you do go with a more defensive build or one with less crit artifacts.

  3. Excalibur An excellent item if you want a mix of offense and defense, this may end up being very good in the endless dungeon Gaz has been talking about.

  4. Shield of Perseus for the tank in us all.

  5. Ultimate Nullifier if big red numbers are your thing!! Or for PvP.

Costume Affixes and Core

You will was crit damage on grade 1 - 4 costume affix rolls. As far are you core it is quite play style dependent but the better affixes on it in my opinion are 25%/invuln, 25%/LoH, Loh/invuln for 3 stat cores. 25%/LoH/Invul, or 25%/invuln/+1 fighting 4 stat cores.

Runeword

  • I recommend using the Defensive Uru but Melee or Physical damage are both good options.
  1. The Power Doop 4700 brutal damage is a lot. So much that its the best option. Though only at top end rolls.

  2. God of Mischief Gives a bit of everything (dmg, crit, brutal, power duration) and +1 all powers and +1 to your sig. This remains a very good option while getting your item upgrades but loses its usefulness as you get your item upgrades and stop benefiting from the +to powers.

  3. All Father's Fury Good bit of melee crit and melee damage mixed with a moderate amount of defensive affixes. A solid choice.

  4. Courage Of Asgard I think this is the best defensive runeword for Wolverine due to its incredible mitigation, we may see some good use for this with some of the upcoming game modes and Gaz trying to move us away from playing glass cannons.

  5. Heroes of Asgard This would likely be situational for group content. 300 crit for the entire raid is quite good. If no one else has one on.

  6. Viking Vitality is decent if you are severely lacking in the HP department.

Cybernetics

Green

You have two choices either 8% base health or 1% mitigation.

Blue

Is relatively irrelevant in this build though if you plan to eventually swap to The Best End Game Build There Is featured below I would recommend the spirit on basic hit in this slot.

Purple

I personally think +3% physical/melee damage, +3% crit damage, or +10% brutal damage are all pretty decent options here.

Cosmic

+2 melee powers!

Unique

+3 Fighting is ideal but +3 strength is good too.

It's been nice knowing you, bubs.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the Wolverine die-hards out there who have strategized and aided each other the past four and a half years. Wolverine's is the the only hero-specific sub-forum I bothered using so I can't compare it to others, but I know I always found a lot of useful information provided by other players here, and just wanted to say thanks before the curtains finally close on our good times.
